Hundreds of criminal justice professionals have been recognised in the 2015 New Year's Honours List for their impact upon the UK criminal justice system.

Amongst those recognised in the list are Bill Whyte, professor of social work studies in criminal and youth justice at the University of Edinburgh who has been awarded a CBE, Kenny Brown, a governor at HMP Wandsworth (who has been awarded an OBE) and Heather Munro, CEO of the London Probation Trust who has also received an OBE. 

It is pleasing to see so many frontline prison, probation and youth justice staff being recognised for their impact on offenders as well as those working in more senior positions. Sanctuary would like to congratulate all those recognised in this year’s list.  

Amongst those receiving honours this year are: 

  • Matthew Baggott, Chief Constable, Police Service of Northern Ireland. Awarded for services to Policing in the United Kingdom.
  • Thomas Winsor, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary. Awarded for public service.

  • Joyce Plotnikoff, Director, Lexicon Ltd. For services to Justice, particularly Vulnerable and Child Witnesses.

Commander of the British Empire (CBE)
  • Alan Eccles, Chief Executive Officer and Public Guardian, Office of the Public Guardian. Awarded for services to the Administration of Justice and Vulnerable Adults.
  • Patrick Maguire Governing Governor, Maghaberry Prison, Department of Justice. Awarded for Public Service to the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
  • Nicholas Pascoe, Regional Manager, HM Prison Service, Greater London. Awarded for services to the Criminal Justice System.
  • Professor Bill Whyte, Professor of Social Work Studies in Criminal and Youth Justice, University of Edinburgh. Awarded for services to Youth Justice in Scotland.

Order of the British Empire (OBE)
  • Kenny Brown, Governor, HMP Wandsworth. Awarded for services to HM Prison Service
  • Rebecca Bryant, Head, Crime and Disorder Directorate, Manchester City Council. Awarded for services to the community and Victim Support in Manchester 
  • Heather Munro, Chief Executive, London Probation Trust. Awarded for services to Probation, Rehabilitation and Criminal Justice.
  • Robert Owen, Chief Executive Officer, St Giles Trust. Awarded for services to the Rehabilitation of Offenders.
  • William Thomson, Finance Manager, Scottish Prison Service. Awarded for services to the Criminal Justice System.
  • Elizabeth Tysoe, Head of Healthcare Inspection, HM Inspector of Prisons. Awarded for services to Offender Health.
  • Tessa Webb, Chief Executive Hertfordshire Probation Trust. Awarded for services to Probation.

Member of the British Empire (MBE)
  • Rosalind Fulcher, Prison Officer, HMP Huntercombe. Awarded for services to HM Prison Service.
  • Mary Lou Lockhart-Mummery, Founder member, Independent Monitoring Board, Heathrow Airport. Awarded for services to Prisoners and Detainees
  • Eleanor Paterson, Community Reparation Officer, Surrey Youth Justice. Awarded for services to Restorative Justice.
  • Carolyn Randall, Area Manager, Crimestoppers Trust, Sussex. Awarded for services to Crime Prevention.
  • Edwina Tyler, Business and Community Engagement Manager, HMP The Mount, HM Prison Service. Awarded for services to Prisoners and Prison Volunteering.
  • Mohammed Uddin, Imam, HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Awarded for services to HM Prison Service.
  • Mark Harling, Physical Education Officer, HM Prison Humber. Awarded for services to HM Prison Service.
  • Wendy Sherlock, Curriculum Co-ordinator for Further and Higher Learning, HM Prison The Mount. Awarded  for services to Prison Education
