Our values

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

Sanctuary was awarded the title of Recruitment Agency of the Year 2014 at the national Recruiter Awards for Excellence. This achievement has not only set a benchmark for the UK’s recruitment industry, but for ourselves – we will always strive to be better.

Our staff are sympathetic to the complex, challenging and sensitive work delivered by our clients and candidates. We realise how it takes an individual with a unique set of skills to work with offenders, or those who are recovering from using drugs or alcohol, and the difference they can make to communities. This is why each of our employees is passionate about supporting those we work with and truly cares about their individual role in this.

Respecting the roles of individuals within the company as well as our candidates and clients encourages the most valuable partnerships for all involved. Working in collaboration, we invest in the growth and development of each other through support, training opportunities and sharing of knowledge. Sanctuary thrives on recognising and bringing out the potential in people, from the professionals we recruit to those in our internal apprenticeship academy.

Sanctuary is a dynamic company, taking on new challenges and making people's ideas happen. The opportunities we provide for personal growth have led to exceptional innovations, from changes in our processes to the development of new services. We are always looking for new ways to meet the needs of the criminal justice sector and we greatly encourage input from candidates.

We realise that the professionals we place will understand the pressures and constraints facing the sector better than anyone and are therefore best placed to identify the changes needed. This is why we have set up an investment fund to support those with innovative approaches to practice.

At Sanctuary, we pride ourselves on being open and honest and providing realistic solutions. We only put suitable candidates forward for a job. Where we have identified areas for improvement on a candidate’s CV, we have offered additional training to boost their prospects and ensure they meet our clients’ specific requirements.

Our staff work in an open office environment where everyone is approachable. We aim to offer the same support for both our clients and candidates – our consultants are always on hand to discuss any issues or queries and our Managing Director, James Rook, is always interested to hear from you!

It is the pride of each of our employees that makes Sanctuary come to life, from how we present ourselves to how we treat each other, lead our teams and perform as individuals. Our staff are passionate about what we do and have the motivation to do it well.

“We definitely have a unique environment with people who genuinely care about each other and what we can achieve by going that extra mile in supporting our colleagues, clients and candidates. I feel utterly humbled and extremely fortunate to work with such amazing people!”
James Rook, Managing Director
