Safeguarding & Compliance

How would you feel if you discovered a vulnerable relative had been seen by an agency worker who had an invalid DBS disclosure or safeguarding check?

I'm sure, like us, you would be very concerned.

Unfortunately, that is likely to be the case with many agency workers whose agencies have not followed the strict guidelines set out by Government or carried out sufficient pre-employment checks.

Those guidelines stipulate that DBS registered bodies (such as recruitment agencies and umbrella organisations) who process criminal record and safeguarding checks must physically check original documents before applying, and therefore before any worker starts work.

Sanctuary Personnel treats safeguarding and the protection of the vulnerable people our workers support with the upmost importance. Every candidate goes through a robust and thorough compliance checking process prior to starting work with Sanctuary. This includes a face-to-face meeting, where original documentation is seen and verified, and where an interview is completed to ensure each candidate is suitable for the post for which they have applied.

This allows Sanctuary to apply for a new DBS Disclosure (in our capacity as a DBS Umbrella Body) and in line with the official best practice guidelines set out by government. Each face-to-face meeting ensures Sanctuary can verify the identity, the right-to-work and the general suitability of each candidate before we then supply them to our clients, thus helping to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding.

We believe, this is not just best practice, but our duty.
