Security Clearance

Some roles within the criminal justice sector require additional clearance or vetting because of the locations you may be working.

For a role working with a prison or with the police you will need Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks as well as additional vetting by the prison service or police force.

Sanctuary is a DBS umbrella body which means we can process online DBS applications in house, often resulting in a faster turnaround.

We can also help you complete any information required for prison or police clearance.

Clearance takes about two weeks on average for most roles, and you cannot start work until it has been obtained.

On rare occasions we may be asked to place someone in a category A prison or an immigration centre where Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) is required. This is a higher level of clearance which can take up to six months to obtain. However, if you have CTC clearance it can sometimes be transferred between employers so you should let you Sanctuary Criminal Justice consultant know.
